home based internet business was once a faraway dream.
With my rudimentary internet knowledge limited only to using emails and surfing the internet, setting a web page and dealing with all the mind-spinning html text seemed an awesome daunting task.
Despite the lure of an ideal lifestyle that could be made possible by an online business, I was repeatedly held back by the fear that arises from lack of web authoring knowledge. For many years, I wasn’t even dared to dream about starting an online business.
However, as I witnessed how the internet had evolved so rapidly over the years, I know I’ll be missing out on the chance of a lifetime to realize my dream lifestyle if I do not conquer my fear. The longer I delay embarking on my home based internet business, the further I am from my dream. And the gap is widening fast.
Finally, on one fine day two years ago, it had dawned on me that starting a home based internet business was inevitable, as I achieved clarity in my life purpose of seeking freedom and significance (Read About Us).
And so, I made a resolution to embrace the internet technology by starting my first blogging site.
From there, I began the journey of learning web page creation and internet marketing, to eventually create a home base internet business that complement my entrepreneurial consulting business.
How I Become Internet Savvy!
I am sure you know this is an exaggerated statement.
If you think I am internet savvy because this site looks decent, the truth is: It would not have been possible without the wonderful tool that I am about to share .... Site Build It! ("SBI")
The Frustration of Building My First Blogging site....
When I started building my first website, I was sold on the idea that a website can be built cheaply or even free. And so, I wasn’t looking for anything that cost more than a few hundred dollars to build my website. Indeed, I built my first blogging site using a free blogging software, and paid about a hundred dollars for a year of web hosting.
After taking lots of pain to learn the basic HTML and CSS to finally get done with a decent looking site that I am proud of, I realize to my frustration that the real challenge has just began.
Although setting up a blogging site wasn’t really difficult (just as many experts have claimed), it is certainly a different story if you want a site that not only look decent, but also delivers all the essential tools and features to optimize the site for search engine.
I realized that I had made an awful mistake...
In my obsession with creating a decent-looking site, I have neglected the aspects of search engine optimization. Two months after the site was set up, I was disheartened to find out from the traffic details that I was probably the greatest admirer of my own site, with a trickle of visitors that come and go.
Subsequently, I struggled to include others traffic building tools such as RSS feed, bookmarking tools, auto-responders, sitemap submission, etc.... and what did I achieve?
.... more frustrations and little results.
